New Businesses, Renovations, And Restaurants Slated For Downtown Frankfort

The Frankfort Village Board convened on Monday, February 5, 2024, to address several crucial development proposals aimed at enhancing the village’s landscape and enriching community offerings.

Among the significant approvals are the Olde Frankfort Mall Development at 15 Ash Street, a Special Use Permit for Indoor Entertainment by the Frankfort Arts Association, and a Special Use Permit for a Full-Service Restaurant by Petite Patate, as part of the continued renovations to Downtown Frankfort.

The Olde Frankfort Mall Development, situated at 15 Ash Street, received a series of approvals, to allow for the construction of a 3-story building addition that will connect to the current building.

This development initiative represents a significant step towards revitalizing the Olde Frankfort Mall area, fostering economic growth, and providing new dining, shopping and entertainment options for residents and visitors alike.

In addition, the Frankfort Arts Association’s Underground was approved for a Special Use Permit to operate a business that will include art classes and an art gallery at 20 S. White Street, reflecting the village’s commitment to supporting local arts and culture.

Furthermore, the board also gave approvals for a Full-Service Restaurant by Petite Patate, a French bistro relocating from New York City, with additional considerations for a Vacation Rental at 116 Kansas Street on the second floor.

“These developments will contribute to the charm and vitality of our downtown, attracting both residents and visitors alike,” stated Mayor Keith Ogle.

These new projects are in addition to the 7 N. White Street building previously approved and currently under construction, which is slated to be home to Senso Sushi, Rustic Kneed, Nautical Bowls and a dental office.

Finally, a Special Use Permit for Massage Establishment by Frankfort Massage Therapy, LLC. Located at 20500 S. Lagrange.

These approvals underscore the village’s dedication to fostering diverse business environments while maintaining the unique character and charm of Frankfort.

The Village of Frankfort is also very excited to announce that we recently received notification from Senator Hastings Office and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) that the Village of Frankfort was awarded $500,000 to expand parking in the downtown H-1 district.  Engineering is already underway for this additional parking.

Mayor Ogle announced, “I look forward to seeing these projects come to fruition and witnessing the positive impact they will have on our village and its residents.”
