Will uncertainty of presidential election politics be reflected in Chicago’s mayoral election?

Former Chicago City Hall reporter and Tribune columnist John Kass, now the publisher of JohnKassNews.com online, joined the Two Guys on Politics weekly podcast with guests former Congressmen Bill Lipinski and Dan Lipinski, and former Chicago City Hall reporter and columnist Ray Hanania to discuss the aftermath of the November 8 elections and how the uncertainty of America’s political system weighs in on Chicago’s election future.

Kass, the Lipinski’s and Hanania talked about the collapse of the Republican election surge and prospects for former President Donald Trump to make a comeback in the 2024 Presidential election.

They also discussed the challenges the country faces in a deeply divided America and political polarization.

Kass, the Lipinskis and Hanania also consider Trump and Biden’s weaknesses and also discuss options like Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is being bantered about as a possible presidential candidate. But do Americans really know him? And what about West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin? What are his plans and will he run for president to bring a centrist voice to the national debate?

Finally, the panelists discuss how the challenges in American politics nationally reflect do those political challenges weigh in on Chicago’s mayoral contest in April, 2023 with a large group of contenders running to unseat Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, including Paul Vallas, Ray Lopez, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, and Dr. Willie Wilson, and what are the major issues.

Kass was the Chicago Tribune’s senior columnist for many years (1980 – 1921) until last year when several leftwing extremist editors and reporters at the Tribune bullied Kass and forced him out of the newspaper in an unprecedented display of journalistic unprofessionalism. Kass later launched his own news website, John Kass News at JohnKassNews.com where he continues to publish his columns free of Tribune censorship.

“There is no doubt in my mind that if the legendary Mike Royko were alive today, he would condemn the Tribune’s envious actions against John Kass and using his trademark line declare that Tribune newspaper was not fit to wrap a dead Chicago fish,” said former Chicago City Hall reporter and columnist Ray Hanania, who cohosts the Two Guys on Politics podcast.

“The Chicago Tribune is far from the journalistic iconic newspaper that it was over the years when greats like the Tribune’s late Chicago City Hall reporter Bob Davis and columnist Bob Wiedrich reigned supreme.”
