Oberweis offers Speaker Pelosi ice cream if she goes to Washington D.C. to help small businesses
Jim Oberweis, candidate for Congress in the 14th District, said he would send U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi ice cream, from his ice cream business, if she would go to Washington D.C. to develop and support support for small businesses
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) took to social media recently and opened her freezer revealing a stockpile of ice cream which gave Jim Oberweis an idea.
If Speaker Pelosi loves ice cream so much maybe some free ice cream would be enough to lure her back to Washington D.C. to vote to help small businesses keep paying their employees.
“I think we can solve two problems – Speaker Pelosi’s need for ice cream and the need for Congress to vote on reupping available funds for the small business loan program,” Oberweis said.
“Nancy Pelosi needs to get back to D.C. now. If she calls Congress back this week to help our small businesses, I will buy her ice cream at any of our Oberweis Dairy stores for the whole year or anytime she comes to campaign for Congresswoman Underwood in the 14th District. In fact, I will even send her favorite flavors to her in D.C. And there is no doubt Oberweis Dairy ice cream will be better than anything she has in her freezer.”
Democrats are currently blocking efforts to provide an additional $250 billion to the small business loan program with partisan demands.
“This should be a no brainer,” Oberweis said. “Our small businesses need help. Now is the time for leadership – not partisan politics. Speaker Pelosi needs to get back to Washington D.C. and help our hurting small businesses and help President Trump save jobs and stop playing politics.”

Jim Oberweis is a successful entrepreneur, family man, and common sense conservative. Jim also serves as the Chairman of Oberweis Dairy, a business founded by Jim’s grandfather, Peter, who began delivering milk to his Aurora neighbors in 1915. Thirty years ago, Jim purchased the family business after his brother had a stroke and was unable to continue running the business. Jim developed and implemented a successful strategy for growth. Under Jim’s leadership, the Dairy has grown from a small home delivery company with one ice cream store and 50 employees to 43 ice cream stores and restaurants with more than 1,200 employees.
Jim knows the harsh reality of non-government finance, which means a successful small business owner must make sure that expenses don’t run ahead of revenues. Jim’s life experiences have led him to be a common sense conservative: pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, pro-tax cut, pro-spending cut, and pro-growth. He is determined to cut the special-interest pork and end wasteful government spending in Washington DC and will stand up for traditional cultural values.
Jim has long been active as a leading member and supporter of the Republican Party and conservative organizations. He currently serves as a member of the Illinois State Senate.
Jim is well known for his philanthropic endeavors. More than two decades ago, he established the Oberweis Foundation as a charitable trust created to help children and adults in difficult economic circumstances, such as those served by Hesed House and the Northern Illinois Food Bank, on whose Board of Directors Jim served. He has been a very active supporter of ProjectHOOD in Chicago which is working to keep kids out of gangs and off drugs and to reduce the street violence in Chicago.
Jim is married, and his wife Julie works with him at Oberweis Dairy. He has five adult children, two stepchildren, and twenty grandchildren, most of whom call Illinois home.
