Dad reunited with disabled daughter after long separation
By Laura Reichel
A loving father was prevented from seeing his daughter, a young woman with a disability, for far too long. Desperate to see his daughter and unwilling to lose her, dad called attorney Jeffery M. Leving for help to fight for them. The Leving legal team fought for them, and they won, reuniting this loving father with his daughter after a long separation.
Chicago matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this important case on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, March 29th on Power 92.3 FM. Dad had a court ordered visitation schedule with his daughter and everything was going great at first. Suddenly, the mother stopped all of dad’s visitation and reportedly used their daughter’s disability as an excuse to keep dad away from his daughter according to court documents.
Dad was terrified of losing his daughter forever. It had already been far too long since he last saw her and dad feared he would never see his daughter again. He turned to attorney Jeffery Leving so he and his daughter wouldn’t lose each other. He refused to give up hope, and the Leving legal team refused to give up on them.
Dad had never legally lost his parenting time, but he needed it enforced in court. The Leving team immediately went to court and asked the judge to order the mother to comply with the visitation schedule status quo ante (Latin for the way things were before). There was some debate over what would happen if the girl needed emergency medical care, but when it was over, the judge ruled in dad’s favor. The Leving legal team won. Dad’s parenting time schedule was restored, and he was reunited with his daughter.
This court victory, modified for publication, shows that all children matter and that dads do have rights – even when their children are adults and they have a disability. The Leving team fought hard for dad and his daughter and succeeded in putting dad and his daughter back together in each other’s lives.
Matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the President of the United States.
