New hires in Bridgeview
Police officer, firefighter are hired
By Steve Metsch
A new police officer and a new firefighter have been appointed to their departments by the Bridgeview Village Board.
Board members at the May 2 meeting voted unanimously 6-0 in favor of appointing Rakan Hammoudeh to the police department, and Kris Aguilar to the fire department.
The appointments were needed to fill absences created by retiring personnel.
“They’ll be sworn in at a later date,” Fire Chief Mike Daly said.
“We can always use more,” Police Chief Ricardo Mancha added.
Bridgeview firefighters from the south station were busy of late. They assisted on a mile-long large brush fire south of 115th Street in Alsip on May 1, Daly said.
“The fire threatened the houses. It was right up against them. They came back to the station at 10 that night, then went out until 7 the next morning for a fire in Forest View near the canal,” Daley said.
“It was fairly busy,” Daly added, “but everyone returned safe and sound.”
