2021 Orland Township Board Swearing-In Ceremony

Orland Township Swears-In New Board Members as Orland Township residents celebrate the installation of a stable, credible government leadership. Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady is recognized as one of the premiere leaders for the Orland Park region, respected by elected officials at every level

On Monday, May 17th, 2021 a swearing-in ceremony was held for the newly elected Officials, as well as the re-elected Officials. The ceremony took place at Orland Township, 14807 S Ravinia Ave Orland Park, IL, shortly after the monthly board meeting. Following the event, a short reception was held for area residents and any other guests in attendance.

The ceremony included the swearing in of Paul A. O’Grady, for his fourth term in a row, carried out by the Honorable Daniel Patrick Brennan. He has served as Orland Township Supervisor since 2009. O’Grady, named “Township Supervisor of the Year” by the board of directors of the Illinois State Crime Commission/Police Athletic League, has hosted regular job fairs and other initiatives to help residents find employment, tripled the capacity of its Food Pantry to serve local families in need, and launched a companion Pet Pantry.

Along with this, O’Grady was able to award over $131,000 in scholarship funds to 175 local students based on academic achievement and community service as president of the Orland Township Scholarship Foundation.

The Honorable Daniel Patrick Brennan also swore in the three re-elected Trustees Patrick Feldner, Maria Sanfilippo, and John Lynch, who were joined by newly-elected Trustee Michael Maratea: an Orland Park resident since 1999 who has been heavily involved with his community since. Michael, a former teacher of District 140 for over 30 years, was elected to the Orland 135 Board of Education in 2013 and served as Chair of Policy and Personnel, Technology, Communication, and Finance. Previously a Board of Education Vice President and Finance Chair holder, Michael is excited to join Orland Township as a Trustee.

Also sworn in was Cindy M. Murray, who sought out another term on the Township Board as Township Clerk. Cindy pledges that she will continue to prioritize the needs of the Township and passionately represent its citizens’ interests while driving new ideas and growth opportunities for the Township budget, community outreach and support services.

Rich E. Kelly, incumbent Assessor, was sworn in with the rest of the board for his fifth term in a row. As a Certified Illinois Assessing Officer, he ran for Orland Township Assessor and was elected for his first term in 2005. Since then, Rich has dedicated his time to helping thousands of homeowners as a taxpayer’s advocate; making sure that property assessments are fair and equitable for all of Orland Township homeowners.

The newly-elected Highway Commissioner Antonio Rubino was also sworn in during Monday’s ceremony. He has served residents as an Orland Township Collector since January 2011, and began his service as Orland Township Trustee in April 2013. Rubino is an eighteen-year law enforcement veteran of Cook County. His past and present memberships include the Fraternal Order of Police, Teamsters, Metropolitan Alliance of Police and Laborers Local 4. His passion for building a stronger community for all is what motivates his public service today.

“At Orland Township, we strive to promote a greater quality of life for all of our residents by providing services and initiatives that benefit the entirety of our community,” Supervisor O’Grady said. “The board is passionate about the work that we do for the Township and we’re appreciative of this incredible opportunity to serve you once again.”
