Maywood man charged with aggravated battery to a child after incident May 23 at Super Target in Tinley Park
A 31-year-old Maywood man was charged with aggravated battery to a child, endangering the life or health of a child, domestic battery, criminal damage to property and two counts of fleeing and eluding police after an incident May 23 at Super Target, 7300 W. 191st St., Tinley Park.
Tinley Park police responded May 23 to the Super Target for a domestic battery call in progress inside the store in which a man was seen battering a woman and an infant. After he was pointed out by a witness, the man fled into the parking lot and escaped in his vehicle. Other responding officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the man refused to pull over and fled northbound on Harlem Avenue at a high rate of speed, eventually going out of sight of police.
Police learned through the investigation that the man was the father of the infant and was identified as Dwayne Johnson. After police contacted him, Johnson turned himself in.
Johnson has been transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to await a bond hearing on Thursday, May 28. Additional charges are pending review of the Will County States Attorney Office. The woman and infant sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
