New comedy club opens in Chicago’s Logan Square

On November 1st, 2018 Logan Square Improv opened its doors to the public. Logan Square Improv, or LSI, is the newest addition to the lineup of comedy theaters in Chicago, and the first of its kind in the Logan Square area. Co-founded by Chicago comedians, Andrew Lemna and Alex Prichodko, this intimate 45-seat theater hosts a variety of comedic shows at an affordable rate for the community.

LSI’s weekly programming showcases improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy performances. All shows in the theater are either free or $5. The theater also offers a Patreon membership which allows patrons of the theater access to unlimited shows for only $5/month. For those looking to try comedy for themselves, LSI offers an 8-week improv class for only $175, the cheapest 8-week improv course in Chicago. “We wanted to create an affordable and supportive space for people to see and perform comedy in Logan Square, because there isn’t a dedicated comedy theater around here,” said Andrew Lemna, one of the co-founders of LSI.

Before opening Logan Square Improv, Andrew and Alex were producing a weekly variety show, The Thursday Show, which they now run as the free, signature show of Logan Square Improv. Regarding LSI’s operations, Alex Prichodko stated, “Our underlying mentality with LSI is to put up the best shows that we can. On any given night, we want to take care of every aspect of production so that performers have a vehicle to showcase their craft and audience members can have the best experience possible.”
