Dad and children reunited for the holidays

By Laura Reichel

A father’s greatest joy is brought by his children, and his greatest fear is losing them.

This is the same fear a terrified father experienced when, despite being granted an Order of Protection by the courts against his ex, his two children were left with their reportedly abusive mother.

Dad feared for his children’s safety and immediately called us for help. We fought for him in court and won.

Chicago matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this important case on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CST Saturday, January 4th on Power 92.3 FM.

Dad and the mother were together for many years and have two daughters, ages seven and nine. After an acrimonious breakup, dad had informal parenting time with his children.

However, that all came to an end when, in the middle of picking his daughters up from his ex’s home, dad’s ex became extremely abusive towards him. After the attack, dad filed for and was granted an Emergency Order of Protection by the courts against his ex.

However, dad was horrified to find out that the Order of Protection only protected him not his children. His ex refused to turn the children over to dad and, with the Order in place, she refused to allow dad any contact with his own children.

Dad feared for his daughters’ safety and immediately called attorney Jeffery M. Leving, who assured the frantic father that they would help.

The Leving legal team immediately went to court, aiming to win and reunite dad with his daughters. They presented the facts, and skillfully litigated dad’s case. They won. The judge ruled in dad’s favor and ordered that the children be immediately returned to their father, just in time for the holidays. Plus, the judge ensured that dad and his daughters would not be separated.

This court victory, modified for publication, was crucial to keeping this loving father and his little girls together.

Dad feared never seeing his daughters again and being unable to protect them and now, thanks to this court victory, dad never has to fear not being there again to protect his daughters. Failure was never an option for the Leving legal team.

Matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of President Biden’s Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition, the Illinois House of Representatives has honored Leving “for his work in safeguarding the rights of fathers and protecting the welfare of children and families in this State,” and the Illinois Senate issued a proclamation recognizing his efforts on behalf of fathers.
