County Executive David Crowley to Sign Legislation Funding McKinley Beach Restoration & Safety Improvements
Tomorrow, June 30 at 1 PM, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley will sign legislation authored by Supervisor Sheldon A. Wasserman, Chairman of the County Board Committee on Parks, Energy, and Environment, funding the design and construction of repairs to McKinley Beach.
Supervisor Wasserman will join County Executive Crowley at the signing, along with Supervisors and Parks Committee members Steve F. Taylor and Felesia A. Martin.
The legislation succeeds an analysis by consultants exploring potential solutions to reestablish safe beach conditions. McKinley Beach has been the site of multiple drownings and near drownings over the past few years, leading the county to close the beach in 2021.
With the funding in place, the county will work to secure a vendor to design and construct the beach repairs. This will expedite the timeline for beach repair by more than a year, allowing McKinley Beach to potentially reopen in 2023.
