Community Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic Friday, May 21st at Village Leadership Academy In the South Loop

It Takes A Village Family of Schools, in partnership with The Rana-Reagan Pharmacy, UI Health, Miles Square Health Center, and IMPACT, is hosting a community covid-19 vaccination clinic this Friday, May 21st from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The event will be held at Village Leadership Academy, located in the South Loop at 800 S Wells St.

The two-shot Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has recently been approved for children ages 12-16. It Takes A Village (ITAV) will be providing this vaccination opportunity for students and families in this age bracket, as well as for community members and older individuals.

Individuals do not need to be affiliated with ITAV or Village Leadership Academy to be vaccinated at this event. All covid-19 vaccines are offered at no cost to everyone; no insurance or ID required. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and provide a signed consent form. Those interested in registering to receive a vaccine at the event may do so online using the following link: https://tinyurl.com/VLAvaccines

It Takes A Village Chief Operations Officer, Anita Andrews-Hutchinson, speaks to the importance of this public vaccination opportunity for the community during this historic crisis. “We could not be more thankful to have the partners and organizational capacity necessary to provide this important service to our schools and community,” she says. “This type of event, just like our regular diaper giveaway days and free employment and college readiness workshops we provide, really speaks to our goal as an organization to meet the foundational needs of our community in addition to providing an educational service.”

According to Dr. Halleh Akbarnia, an ER physician and Director of Community Outreach for IMPACT,  “We are thrilled to partner with It Takes A Village to help everyone be able to return to some form of normal very soon. Doing our part, sending volunteers, and assisting to get our communities vaccinated helps us get there faster”. IMPACT, which stands for Illinois Medical Professionals Action Collaborative Team, was formed by a group of physicians who have been educating, advising, and advocating for patients and healthcare providers during the pandemic, and now with a strong volunteer arm to help.

It Takes A Village Family of Schools is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides a comprehensive approach to early childhood education by continuously evaluating and serving the unique needs of children, families, and communities so that every child may reach their fullest potential.
