23-year-old Berwyn man charged in DUI related deaths Oct. 9

Charges were filed against Jordan Michalak, 23, of Berwyn, who on Oct. 9, 2017 struck another vehicle in Lyons at the intersection of 1^st Avenue and 44^th Street. The accident occurred at around 6:20 pm.

Michalak will appear at Bridgeview today at 1:30 pm in Room 103. Michalak is charged with 2 counts of DUI causing death and 2 counts of Reckless Homicide. He will be going for a bond hearing in the morning.

The two fatalities were identified as 60-year-old William Molthop of Roselle and 62-year-old Vincent Neri of Melrose Park. Both were pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Witnesses said both vehicles were traveling with a green light through the intersection.

Lyons Police, the Illinois State Police and the Cook County States Attorney’s Office coordinated the investigation resulting in the arrest and charges.
