Plainfield North High School on soft lockdown as police search for possible armed man
By Steve Neuhaus
The Plainfield North High School was placed on a soft lockdown this afternoon around 1:30pm as local police searched for a wanted man who possibly may have been armed near the school authorities said.
Police responded to the area and local residents who are within a half mile
radius of 119th Street and 248th Avenue were told to stay inside their homes.
Plainfield Police Department Chief John Konopek said they were searching for a white man who may have been armed and possibly connected to a domestic incident.
The high school was placed in soft lockdown as a precaution, according to the police department website.
Plainfield School District 202 Spokesman Tom Hernandez said in an email the
potential threat was not coming from inside the high school.
“Everyone is safe inside and we’re working with police to coordinate dismissal,” Hernandez said.
