Lipinski and Hanania analyze MidTerm elections, and Congressional battle between Patty Garcia and Chris Getty in Video Podcast
Two Guys on Politics S5 Episode 27 Video Podcast hosts Bill Lipinski and Ray Hanania discuss the challenges facing President Trump and the Republican Party going into the MidTerm elections on Nov. 3, 2026, and address the only real election contest in Illinois, the battle for the 4th Congressional District seat between Patty Garcia and Chris Getty.
They also address the issue of whether things will get better or worse, noting that the Democrats also have serious problems with their leaders, Sen. Chuck Schumer and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries.
Lipinski and Hanania discuss how Trump and his family are profiting from his term in office, his insane habit of putting his name on everything (his narcissism), and his self-promotion, including using taxpayer money to promote himself less than four weeks before the MidTerm elections.
Lipinski and Hanania also talk about the only real race in Illinois, the battle for the 4th Congressional District seat abandoned by Congressman Jesus “Chuy” Garcia.
Garcia pretended to file for re-election as a cover to help his Chief of Staff, Patty Garcia file instead as the sole Democrat, and then challenged and removed two of the three Hispanic candidates who filed as independents from the ballot. They couldn’t remove Democrat Chris Getty who was forced to file as an Independent. Getty is a Democrat.
The 4th Congressional District was drawn for Hispanics, but it has the lowest turnout of any of the congressional districts. The Hispanic vote turnout is always very low, and most non-Hispanic voters have not voted because they are excluded from the district by virtue of the way the district was set up for Hispanics (who are only 60 percent of the district). Getty has a chance to win if he can energize the non-Hispanic voters to vote and break the pattern of ignoring the election.
Republican Lupe Castillo is also running, and her issues have been very good,l except that she continues to embrace President Donald Trump. And, worse, she is a part of the Republican Party that is a disaster in the state of Illinois.
The Illinois Republicans are a train wreck and have destroyed their own party through divisions, rivalries, and, in some cases, poor leadership. They can’t get together. The fourth candidate is Ed Hershey of the Working Party, but he has a small base and little funding.
Despite Garcia receiving the support of the Democratic Organization and the Unions, Getty has a strong chance of winning the election.
