Dad and Sons Reunited After Painful Separation
By Laura Reichel
An unwed father from Illinois had been happily raising his two young sons. Though separated from their mother, he maintained regular, meaningful parenting time with his boys and was deeply involved in their daily lives.
Unfortunately, dad’s parenting time wasn’t court-ordered, so it was entirely at the discretion and control of the mother.
A couple of months ago, the mother abruptly cut off all of dad’s parenting time and kicked him to the curb. Dad was devastated when he was suddenly deleted from his sons’ lives.
Desperate, he turned to attorney Jeffery Leving and his legal team to reunite him with his children.
Chicago based matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd., will talk about this important court victory on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CST Saturday, January 24th on Power 92.3 FM. This show segment will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour’s Spotify page on dadsrights.com. The Leving legal team has extensive experience helping fathers in situations just like this—where informal parenting agreements are suddenly yanked away without warning. They went to court and argued for a parenting time schedule like the one that dad was enjoying before the mother unilaterally ended it. The Leving legal team told the judge that dad has been a loving, caring, and supportive parent since the birth of his kids, providing moral, emotional, and financial support to his children. Dad had also developed a close and loving relationship with his sons. They emphasized that parenting time for dad was also in the best interest of the children. They won. Parenting time for dad, as he had before, is exactly what the judge ruled, and now dad has this in a court order where it should be and is back in his children’s lives.
This was a crucial victory modified for publication that reunited dad with his sons and protected their relationship from being torn apart. This powerful victory underscores Attorney Leving’s long-standing message to unwed fathers: secure parenting time through a court order. Relationships can change unexpectedly, but a court order safeguards a father’s right to remain an active, loving presence in his children’s lives and protects the children’s stability and well-being.
This was another case that supported attorney Leving’s urging that unmarried fathers should secure their parenting time in a court order. An unmarried father never knows when his relationship with his children’s mother will change. Court-ordered parenting time can help safeguard his relationship with his children and protect their future.
