Cicero prepares for CiceroFest July 6 through 9
The Town of Cicero will host its annual CiceroFest at Cicero Community Park at 34th and Laramie Avenue from July 6 through July 9 and eliminate the annual fire works display replacing it with a spectacular laser light show.
The festival will include live bands Thursday and Friday (June 6-7) beginning 6:30 PM, and beginning at 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
The Festival will be capped by a Laser Light Show.
Town President Larry Dominick said that he has ended the town’s firework’s displays because of the disruption the fireworks cause to the many pets in the Town of Cicero.
“Fireworks are very disruptive to pets and cause them to become hyper and excited,” said Dominick who has several dogs and was responsible for building one of the state’s most high tech animal care shelters, Waggin’ Tails to protect all abandoned animals.
“We get so many complaints from pet owners that we decided to end the fireworks celebrations which can be very loud and disruptive. We are replacing the fireworks display with an impressive laser light sound synced to music which we feel is safer and more entertaining.”
Dominick reminded everyone that fireworks by individuals are illegal in the state of Illinois and in the Town of Cicero.
“Fireworks are dangerous and we see injuries every year. Anyone caught using illegal fireworks will be fined,” Dominick said.
“We don’t want anyone to be hurt this 4th of July. It should be a time of celebration for this great nation, not tragedy for families who may use dangerous fireworks.”
The CiceroFest is brought to you by the CIcero Special Events Department and Director Patti Salerno, and the Town’s Officials including Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Supervisor Joe Virruso, Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari, Collector Fran Reitz, and Trustees Victor Garcia, Bob Porod, John Cava and Blanca Vargas.
