Was the Jan. 6 violence at Congress an insurrection or a protest gone wrong?

This Episode of “Two Guys on Politics” Podcast looks at the one year anniversary of the  violence that took place on Jan 6, 2021 and addresses questions including, “Was it an ‘insurrection’ or a Constitutionally protected protest that turned violent?”

Published on 01-06-22, Season 2, Episode 1 with Former Congressman Bill Lipinski and former Chicago City Hall reporter and columnist Ray Hanania looks closely at the factors involved criticizing both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.

Lipinski and Hanania discuss Trump’s role in failing to provide strong leadership and Biden’s efforts to weaponize the Jan. 6 protest for political benefit.

Were there 20,000, 30,000 or 120,000 protestors at the Congress?

So far, 800 protestors have been arrested and charged with violent acts. Police officials say they expect 400 more will be arrested and charged with violent acts, too.

Two Guys on Politics Podcast with former Congressman Bill Lipinski and former Chicago City Hall reporter Ray Hanania

But do those 1,200 violent protestors represent the 20,000 to 120,000 protestors, who had a constitutional right to express their opinions? How much did Trump contribute to the violence that took place?

Also, the podcast looks at the issue of hypocrisy. While the mainstream news media and some politicians are weaponizing the Jan. 6 event for partisan political benefit, why are the critics not addressing the worse violence that took place during the three months following the killing of George Floyd in May 2020?

Also, Lipinski and Hanania discuss Biden and what appears to be his failure to achieve what he said he would do, to bring the country together. Biden’s speech only served to incite the divisions and make the polarization of American more rigid.
