Walmart Truck Fire Wednesday morning, July 25, 2018
On Wednesday, July 25 (2018), the Orland Fire Protection District received a 911 emergency call regarding a fire at the Walmart SuperCenter store at 9265 159th Street in Orland Hills.
Upon arrival, Firefighters found a fully involved box-truck parked against the store building on the east side in the back parking lot. Large flames and a large plume of black smoke filled the sky above the vehicle.
Workers were on the roof conducting repairs.
The alarm was upgraded to assure the full evacuation of all of the occupants of the store employees and customers – the store is open 24 hours. It also assured access to the workers on the roof and to ensure that they were safe and secure.
The fire was contained in about 30 minutes. No injuries were reported. The damage to the vehicle and the store was in excess of $100,000.00.
The fire remains under investigation.
