Orland Park Centennial Park Aquatic Center to Reopen Tuesday
Centennial Park Aquatic Center (CPAC) will reopen on Tuesday following a thorough review of the facility and completion of all recommended health and safety procedures.
CPAC was closed late Saturday afternoon after a staff member reported being treated for Escherichia coli (E. coli) infection.
A second potential case has not been confirmed.
Steps Taken Prior to Reopening
- Water quality testing: Multiple samples taken from throughout the facility tested negative for E. coli.
- Super chlorination: Out of an abundance of caution, staff performed a full super chlorination of all pools; chlorine levels have since returned to normal operating standards.
- Mechanical review: All chemical distribution systems were inspected and confirmed to be functioning properly with no alarms or irregularities detected.
- Facility‑wide cleaning: Staff conducted a thorough cleaning of high‑touch surfaces, including guard stations, chairs, restrooms, and locker rooms.
- Concession stand: A health inspection of the concession stand was completed even though the individual being treated for an E. coli infection did not eat at the concession stand.
- Health coordination: Staff communicated with appropriate health officials and followed established CPAC health and safety protocols throughout the response. Monday afternoon, the Cook County Department of Public Health cleared the facility to reopen.
Current Status Based on facility inspections and testing, there is no indication that the reported infection originated at CPAC, and all available water quality results meet health and operational standards.
Additionally, the Village has not received any other reports of illness among patrons or staff.
