The bond between a father and his children is fundamental to our society. However, in the case of a terrified father, his bond with his children was nearly severed after a tumultuous break up with the mother.
Chicago matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this important case on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CST Saturday, January 11thon Power 92.3 FM. This show segment will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour Spotify page on dadsrights.com
Dad has two little boys, ages nine and six. But when Dad’s relationship with his ex became strained, Dad’s ex sought to cut Dad out of his own children’s lives.
Suddenly, dad found himself living in a horrible nightmare. The children’s mother took them to Mississippi over the school break. At first, Dad thought they were on vacation, but when school started and they weren’t back, he feared the worst that they wouldn’t return. He was right.
In a panic and terrified for his children, Dad called attorney Jeffery M. Leving for help and got it.
According to court documents, the mother stated that she moved to Mississippi permanently with the children. Dad did not approve of this, because it meant he would seldom see his little boys – if ever again.
Furthermore, Dad reported that when he was on Face Time with his boys, they asked him “Daddy, why don’t you love us? How come you don’t want us?”. This is a classic instance of parental alienation – where one parent manipulatively badmouths the other parent to the children. It can harm children irreversibly. It is incredibly harmful to Dad’s parental bonds with his children and their image of him.
The Leving team immediately brought this before a judge, who scheduled a hearing, for which they prepared diligently. They presented their evidence, including testimony from dad, that these boys had lived their entire lives in Illinois until the mother took them away. The Leving team’s case on behalf of this father was overpowering and the judge agreed. He found dad’s testimony to be most credible. He ordered that the children be returned to Illinois and to stay here with their father. The Leving team did their job, and they won.
This court victory, modified for publication, was a relief for Dad. He feared that he’d be removed from his children’s lives forever. Now, they’re back home in Illinois with their father, who has loved them ever since the day they were born.
