Thank you.

Thank you to every resident throughout the South Suburbs for participating in our democracy.

Thank you to every resident for casting a ballot for me, entrusting me with the responsibility of representing our neighbors and communities at our state’s Capitol.

This election was one of the most difficult for our community. It challenged us to look to our core and ask ourselves what do we value.

Our friends and neighbors sent a clear message this election cycle. They value a woman’s right to choose, protecting workers rights, investing in our children’s education, taking care of the less fortunate, and increasing public safety throughout our communities.

Now it’s time to heal, recalibrate and focus on getting back to work.

Yesterday, I received a phone call from Patrick Sheehan where he conceded the election for the State Senate.

It was a very thoughtful conversation, where we spoke of the need for more investment in mental health treatments for veterans and first responders. Regardless of political affiliations, we both agreed that we could work on this together. We both also agreed that our community needs to move forward for the best interest of our residents.

Personally, I wanted to say thank you to our team. My family, campaign staff, supporters and friends faced extremely difficult challenges over the last few years.

From the pandemic, loss of loved ones, cancer, mental health challenges, devastating personal and professional setbacks, we leaned on each other in times of crisis, sought the help we needed and pushed through.

We never quit on our community or each other. Your hard work and belief in our community is a direct reflection of the people we represent — the hard working men and women of the south suburbs.
