U.S. Rep. Marie Newman of the Illinois 3rd District presented local police departments with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition to honor their service to the Southwest Side and suburbs during a regional meeting on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 in Bridgeview
As part of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, U.S. Representative Marie Newman (D-IL-03) today hosted a ceremony to recognize the service of local police officers throughout Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District.
During the ceremony, representatives from more than 30 local police departments were presented with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition to honor the work their police officers do every day to keep communities safe on the Southwest Side and suburbs.
“Our local law enforcement agencies deserve our utmost gratitude,” said Congresswoman Newman.
“I have had the honor to get to know many of our local police chiefs, law enforcement leaders and officers, and I am in awe of their continued dedicated commitment to serving our communities every day. From Chicago to Lockport and everywhere in between, we are incredibly fortunate to have these heroic public servants working tirelessly for us. On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, it is my honor to present our local police departments with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition to acknowledge their tireless and selfless service. It is my honor to work with all of you to serve the hardworking communities of the Southwest Side and suburbs.”
“I want to extend my thanks to Congresswoman Newman for hosting such an important ceremony for the hundreds of officers not only in Bridgeview but across the entire Southwest Side,” said Ricardo Mancha, Chief of the Bridgeview Police Department.
“Every day our officers serve their communities honorably. On National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and every day, I could not be prouder to serve alongside each and every one of them.”
Congresswoman Newman hosted today’s ceremony at the Bridgeview Community Center (7902 South Oketo Avenue, Bridgeview).
In Congress, she has fought to pass legislation that will make real investments in areas of training, officer wellness and community policing, all of which will not only strengthen trust between officers and the communities they serve but also make our neighborhoods safer.
