Lyons offers free concerts
From polka to rock, wide range covered
By Steve Metsch
A wide range of music will be heard this summer during Lyons’ Music In The Park concert series held in Veterans Park, 4100 Lawndale Ave.
The series, which started July 10 with The Redmonds, will bring seven performers each of the next seven Wednesday nights to the village. Admission is free.
Performers are scheduled to play from 6 to 9 p.m. in the pavilion. While there is seating available, it’s a smart idea to bring along some chairs.
If you like the music of the ’50s and ’60s, Tony & The Affects is the band for you. The band plays July 24 at Veterans Park in Lyons. Photo by Steve Metsch.
Here’s the schedule for the rest of the summer:
July 17: The Miles Minor Blues Band.
July 24: Tony & The Affects will cover hit songs from the 1950s and ‘60s.
July 31: Eddie Korosa, Jr. The popular Grammy-nominated polka man from nearby Summit returns with his accordion.
Aug. 7: The Fabtones will play the music from the 1960s featuring rock, Motown, R&B, Elvis and The British Invasion.
Aug. 14: Ax & The Hatchmen. These young men from Gurnee play the blues, classic rock, oldie and alternative rock.
Aug. 21: Moonlight Pickers. This five-person band – four men and one woman – will cover traditional country and rock songs.
Aug. 28: The Jolly Ringwalds. If you music from the 1980s – The Go-Go’s, Journey and Queen, for example – this is the band for you.
