Frozen with an Orland Firefighter at McDonald’s
Orland Park, IL – About 100 children and their parents participated in an exploration of an Orland Fire Protection District Fire Truck at a “Frozen with a Firefighter” event hosted by McDonald’s in Orland Park.
Each child and parent attending the event received a free Frozen drink, courtesy of McDonald’s, at 144th and LaGrange Road, Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Firefighters helped the children explore the fire truck while enjoying their McDonald’s treat.
“Events like this help educate our children at an early age to appreciate the importance of the Fire Department and how we save lives,” said Trustee DJ Jeffers, who joined OFPD and McDonald’s officials in greeting the families.
“We appreciate McDonald’s donating the Frozen drinks to help the kids enjoy the event even more. You can tell they were having fun while they were learning the importance of the Firefighters and Fire Department.”
Also attending was Orland Fire Commissioner Mohammed Jaber, Community Risk Reduction Educator Betsy Dine, who organized the event, and McDonald’s Manager Doug Kwiatkowski.
“We are so honored to host our Fire Department and the kids from the community here today,” Kwiatkowski said.
Jaber said, “Events like this help our children understand the importance of fire and emergency safety and the role the firefighters and fire equipment play towards that safety.”
