Gaining clients relief from child support arrearages to be topic of Leving firm CLE seminar
The Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will host the next presentation of the Arthur S. Kallow Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Seminar Series on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. CDT at 19 S. LaSalle St. in Chicago.
Attorney Scott A. Shell of the Leving firm will be the keynote speaker, presenting on: “Best Strategies for Eliminating Child Support Arrearages.”
“Many fathers struggle to pay child support,” says attorney Jeffery M. Leving, founder and president of the firm, who will facilitate the seminar.
“Some are broke or close to it, and they fall behind. With Illinois’ statutory 9% interest rate on child support arrearages, some fathers will never catch up and still owe child support when their children are adults. This is unfair, and we need legislative reform. However, there are ways to bring individual fathers’ child support injustices to the court’s attention, and persuasively argue for relief for our clients.”
Also, attorney Michael W. Ochoa of the Leving firm will speak on: “Objections to the Testimony of a Therapist in Family Law Cases.”
The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
The Kallow CLE Seminar Series, which began in 2014, provides legal education to family law attorneys and other professionals looking to expand their legal knowledge. CLE credit will be awarded.
