Orland Township Celebrates Older Americans Month

Kick off the celebrations with the Township’s first ever Senior Block Party.

Orland Township invites local seniors to take part in the month-long celebration of Older Americans Month. Older adults play vital, positive roles in our communities – as family members, friends, mentors, volunteers, civic leaders, members of the workforce, and more. May 6, 2022.

Just as every person is unique, so too is how they age and how they choose to do it – and there is no “right” way.

That’s why the theme for Older Americans Month (OAM) 2022 is Age My Way.

The Township will kick off Older Americans Month with a Senior Block Party on Friday, May 6, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Orland Township building, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park. $10 tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Orland Township.

Guests can look forward to participating in karaoke with the DJ, delicious food from Joey’s Red Hots food truck, and free snow cones courtesy of Orland Park Bank & Trust. Additionally, several outdoor games and activities will be onsite to play.

“We look forward to the annual celebration of older adults in our community throughout the entire month of May!” said Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady.

“Since part of this year’s Older Americans Month is to celebrate the many ways older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities, we’re excited to offer something new for our crowd to engage in.”

Along with the Senior Block Party, older Americans can look forward to specially themed drop-in days, a health fair, luncheons, and dinner dances to continue the celebrations.
