Congresswoman Marie Newman endorsed by Transportation Communications Union/IAM
Congresswoman Marie Newman announced Thursday December 9, 2021 that she had received the endorsement of the Transportation Communications Union/IAM (TCU/IAM).
TCU/IAM represents over 44,000 active and retired members across the country, including Metra and Amtrak employees here in Illinois.
“The people of Illinois are indeed well-served by a member of Congress dedicated to defending the lives and livelihoods of working Americans, and by supporting our frontline members at Metra, Congresswoman Marie Newman has shown what side she’s on,” said TCU/IAM National President Arthur Maratea.
“Congresswoman Newman’s support of railroad workers has been evident as she’s supported Metra and transit workers, voted for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (a big deal for our Amtrak members), supported Railroad Retirement, endorsed commonsense pro-worker rail safety efforts, defended union rights, and — again, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our Metra members in their fight for a fair contract. We look forward to continuing to work with Congresswoman Newman and her staff to invest in Metra and Amtrak jobs, raise wages, improve safety, and protect the retirement security for hundreds of thousands of railroad workers and their families.”
