Lyons Police seeking witnesses in truck-bicycle fatality
Village of Lyons police are investigating a traffic accident that resulted in a fatality Tuesday morning Sept. 25, 2018 between 4:45 am and 5:10 am on First Avenue near 43rd Street, just south of Plainfield Road.
Lyons Police Chief James M. Keating said that the cyclist was riding his bicycle southbound on First Avenue when a truck hit him near the intersection of 43rd street.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of the next-of-kin. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. He was 38 years old.
Keating urged members of the public who may have witnessed the accident to immediately contact the Lyons Police on the non-emergency number at 708-447-1225.
