Social media victim won— Leving team vacated stalking no-contact order for dad
By Laura Reichel
A father residing in New Jersey suddenly found himself the subject of a stalking no-contact order issued by an Illinois court, even though he’d never set foot in Illinois. Confused and terrified of being incarcerated, dad immediately contacted attorney Jeffery Leving for help to vacate the order entered against him in a state he’d only ever read about online.
This was a case where the reach of social media collided head-on with the realities of the legal system, and a father’s future and his rights were suddenly on the line. The Leving legal team fought for him in court and won, protecting dad’s freedom and reputation.
Chicago matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this important case victory and more on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, August 9th on Power 92.3 FM.

Dad had reached out for help after discovering that he’d become the target of an emergency stalking no-contact order entered by the court here in Illinois. However, dad lives in New Jersey and was only connected via social media to the individual in Illinois who obtained the court order against him. According to court documents, they had never even met, and dad had never set foot in Illinois. The court order was granted ex-parte, so dad never even had the chance to share his side of the story and defend himself before the judge who entered this order against him.
Terrified of how this court order could affect him and his children, dad called attorney Jeffery Leving, hoping to get the order vacated. Violation of this order is punishable by incarceration. Attorney Leving assured dad that his team would fight to protect him and his freedom.
The Leving legal team appeared in court and submitted evidence from Facebook, X, and other social media platforms, defending dad. They explained to the judge that dad had done nothing to justify a stalking no-contact order in Illinois, especially since he had never even stepped foot in Illinois. In fact, his former social media acquaintance had reportedly sent people to dad’s home to photograph his car’s license plate—and even his children. The judge agreed with the Leving team and vacated the stalking no-contact order against dad, granting dad the peace of mind he so desperately needed. Dad’s liberty was no longer at risk.
