Stein/Ware Campaign Demands Equal Time After Harris SNL Appearance
As the Green Party presidential ticket of Dr. Jill Stein and Dr. Rudolph Ware prepares for Election Day here in Dearborn, the campaign demands that NBC provide equal time and placement for Dr. Stein following the opportunity provided to Kamala Harris on the “Saturday Night Live” program on Saturday night.
As outlined by FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr in a widely circulated Tweet, NBC — as a user of the public airwaves — must provide equal time and opportunity to “legally qualified” candidates. Given the Stein/Ware campaign’s ballot status in 38 states, with enough potential electoral votes to win the presidency, there is no doubt the equal time rule applies.
“It is unsurprising that SNL, which airs on NBC, which is owned by Comcast, which is owned by Blackrock and Vanguard, would support a candidate fundamentally dedicated to maintaining the status quo that is currently enriching them,” said Dr. Stein. “Do we demand channels operating on the public airways follow equal opportunity laws? Absolutely! I am ready for my closeup so that we can spread the word of our people-powered campaign and our people-focused policy agenda at any opportunity.”
As NBC has supplied to the Trump campaign on Sunday, the Stein/Ware campaign demands 120 seconds of free commercial airtime as soon as possible.
