Cantu Murder Update: Victim’s girlfriend plotted her boyfriend’s murder, Bridgeview Police charge
Agnieszka Rydzewski, 33, (8-10-1990) the girlfriend of Arturo Cantu, 39, who was murdered on Wednesday morning while leaving for work, was charged Saturday evening with “Solicitation to Commit Murder.”
Rydzewski was a coworker with the accused killer, Anthony Calderon, at a local McDonalds.
Calderon, a 20-year-old Bedford Park man, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder late Friday evening in the shooting death of Cantu, who lived in Bridgeview. Cantu was walking to his car which he remoted started at 5 AM Wednesday morning and was on his way to work when he was confronted by Calderon and was shot repeatedly.
Following an intensive investigation, Bridgeview police charged Calderon’s girlfriend, Rydzewski, with plotting Cantu’s killing with Calderon.
Charges against Rydzewski were approved by the Cook County State’s Attorney Saturday evening (May 18, 2024).
Bridgeview Police have charged Calderon with First Degree Murder in the killing late on Friday night.
Cantu’s body was found on the side of his apartment building where he was pronounced dead at the scene, Bridgeview Police Chief Ricardo Mancha said Saturday.
Joined by the Major Crime Task Force, the Bridgeview Police were able to secure video from nearby business establishments to help identify and lead them to the suspect who was arrested Friday. Investigators found evidence Saturday that Cantu’s girlfriend was involved.
Agnieszka will be transported for her initial court hearing at the Leighton Courthouse, 2600 S. California Ave, Chicago, on May 19, 2024.
