Leving Firm reunites Dad with his daughter after mother’s tragic death
Dad was never married to the mother of his 5-year-old daughter, whom he cared for and loved deeply.
Despite Dad’s rocky relationship with the mother, he was constantly involved in all aspects of his daughter’s life and had a close relationship with her.
This relationship was threatened after the mother’s tragic death. After the mother’s passing, Dad found himself cut out of his daughter’s life.
Attorney Jeffery Leving, founder and president of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd. in Chicago will talk about this father’s case on his weekly radio show, the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, March 16, on Power 92.3 FM in Chicago.
Dad quickly found out that a relative of the little girl had gone to court and obtained guardianship of his daughter, kicking Dad to the curb and what’s worse, he had not even been notified about it. Dad was distraught to learn that he lost his rights as a father and was denied access to his own daughter who needed him even more than ever now.
Dad contacted the Leving firm for help, and that’s what they did. The Leving team immediately went to court, skillfully arguing that Dad’s legal rights to his daughter were superior to those of the relative, and they won. The little girl was placed in her father’s custody and Dad’s rights as a father were secured.
“This was an important victory, modified for broadcast, for Dad and his little girl,” Leving says, “We protected this father’s relationship with his daughter, while giving Dad the peace of mind that he now holds all the legal rights of fatherhood. Failure was not an option. We fought hard for Dad and his daughter and won. I wish them the very best.”
Attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of President Biden’s 2023 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.
