Spyropoulos seeking election as Cook County Clerk
For the past 13 years, you’ve known Mariyana Spyropoulos as a commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. But she began her career as an Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney before moving to private practice. There, she saw firsthand how vital it is for our courts to be fair, efficient, and well managed.
Unless we get a ticket or face legal challenges, most of us are unaware of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. But in serving more than 5 million people, the Circuit Court of Cook County is the people’s court.
And the Clerk of the Court is the protector of the people’s court, with the power to shine a light on the workings of justice.
As the daughter of working class immigrants, Spyropoulos understand how intimidating and frustrating it can be when the court system isn’t working the way it should. That’s why Spyropoulos decided to run for Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County.
These past few months have been action-packed on the campaign trail.
In August, Spyropoulos was honored to receive the Cook County Democratic Party’s endorsement of my campaign for Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Their support will help me engage grassroots Democratic activists to reach voters across our county and win the primary election on March 19, 2024.
Spyropoulos is working hard collecting signatures to get onto the ballot, meeting voters across our county, and securing more than 60 organization, labor and individual endorsements so far for this campaign.
She’ll be sharing much more information about the campaign, events, endorsements, and opportunities to help out in the future. For now, mark your calendars for primary election day, March 19, 2024, and start making a plan to vote early, vote by mail, or in person on election day.
