Overnight road closures set for Roberts Road and 87th Street as part of Tri-State Tollway reconstruction work

Local road closures with detours needed over next two weeks to safely accommodate bridge beam placement

Overnight local road closures with detours will be scheduled over the next two weeks on Roberts Road and 87thStreet to accommodate mainline bridge beam placement on the Central Tri-State Tollway (I-294) Project. Up to two weeks of closures will be needed to complete the work.

The temporary closures are necessary to safely to complete placement of bridge beams on I-294 over Roberts Road and 87th Street. Electronic message signs and construction signage will be in place in advance to alert drivers to each of the closures and detours. Up-to-date closure information will be posted on the Tollway website in the Daily Construction Alert. All work is weather dependent.

The full roadway closures with detours will be scheduled on both Roberts Road and 87th Street under I-294. The local road closures will be scheduled between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The roads will not be closed simultaneously. 

In addition, on I-294 overnight lane closures in both directions will be scheduled as needed during this time.

On 87th Street under I-294, beginning Wednesday, March 29, up to three nights of full roadway closures will be scheduled. During the 87thStreet closures, a posted detour will route traffic via Cork Avenue, 95th Street and Harlem Avenue.
