One fatality in Orland Hills Home fire

A woman was killed during a home fire in Orland Hills, officials of the Orland Fire Protection District said Tuesday.

Fire crews responded to the fire at the 8900 block of Beacon Lane in Orland Hills at approximately 2 PM on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023.

First arriving fire crews removed one victim that was trapped in the home. Officials said the victim, Jessica Maurer, 41, of the same block of Beacon Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Another victim escaped the home without assistance.

The fire was contained to the room of origin, officials said. 

 

Three police Officers and a second victim were evaluated on the scene but declined medical transport.

The cause of death and the cause of the fire are stillunder investigation.  

The investigation is being performed by the Orland Hills Police Department, the Orland Fire Protection District and the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
