Candidate Calandriello announces “Biking the 17th” to raise awareness for Cook County Forest Preserves

Candidate for Cook County Board of Commissioner for the 17th District Daniel Calandriello announces “Biking the 17th” and hopes to raise awareness for Cook County Forest Preserve

Democratic nominee for the 17th District of the Cook County Board of Commissioners Daniel Calandriello is announcing a “Biking the 17th District” event from Elk Grove Village to Orland Park to raise awareness of the Cook County Forest Preserve.

Calandriello plans to bike several trails located within the Cook County Forest Preserve in the 17th district. The proposed routes, starting in Elk Grove Village and finishing in Orland Park, will include the Orland Grassland, Tinley Creek, Salt-Creek, Des Plaines, and Busse Forest Trails.  The total distance of the routes named will be approximately 50 miles.

Calandriello hopes that biking the length of the district will help build awareness of all the Forest Preserve has to offer.  Regarding the effort, Calandriello said, “Our precious Forest Preserve is an enormous asset to both residents and taxpayers and helps increase property values, reduce flooding and improves the quality of life of our residents.”

Calandriello has announced the bike ride will take place on Sunday, August 14th beginning around 11 A.M. at the Busse Forest Trails and will end at the Orland Grasslands.

Calandriello noted, “Geographically, the 17th District is expansive, encompassing the majority of the Western Boundaries of Cook County. While I have enjoyed many of the towns by meeting residents at their homes and attending local events, I have never biked the entire district and look forward to seeing and experiencing the beauty of the district this way.”

Calandriello is a former Orland Park Trustee and Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney. He currently runs his own law practice in Palos Hills and is the Treasurer of the Southwest Suburban Bar Association. Calandriello resides in Orland Park with his wife and three small children.

Calandriello’s platform includes creating safer communities, protecting and growing local businesses, and investing in local infrastructure. Interested readers can find more information about Calandriello and his campaign by visiting danforcook.com or emailing info @danforcook.com.
