Park dedication on Saturday
Lyons’ new Red Oak Park to make its official debut

The newest park in Lyons will be dedicated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, with a ceremony featuring village officials and Mayor Christopher Getty.
The park is named Red Oak Park because 12 red oaks have been planted on the land, Public Works Director Ryan Grace said at the most recent meeting of the village board.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, masks will be available for attendees. And social distancing will be encouraged during the park dedication ceremony.
The park is unique in that it spans across a residential block. The north side is on 45th Street, and the south side is on 45th Place. A walking path is there along with playground equipment for children.
