Illinois Joining Forces to Host Veteran’s Resource Fair as Part of Chicago Warrior Week

From September 14-21, Illinois Joining Forces (IJF), will join other state-wide and regional Veteran Service Organizations for the first annual Chicago Warrior Week, a week-long series of events designed for veterans that will highlight the programs and resources available to help the transition to civilian life and succeed.

Each day, a veterans service organization (VSO) will highlight their programs available. Illinois Joining Forces will host a “Resource Fair” on Wednesday, September 18 from 3:30pm-6:30pm at the Lincoln Park Zoo (2234 N Cannon, Chicago, IL 60614).

The IJF Resource Fair will bring together our partners to have on-site resolutions in areas such as understanding VA benefits, healthcare, legal help, employment, and educational opportunities, housing, and much more for veterans, service members, and their families.

More information and FAQ’s about The Chicago Warrior Week can be found on their website: www.chicagowarriorweek.com.

Chicago Warrior Week

Chicago Warrior Week will help veterans connect with other veterans, organizations, and the community as a way to help cope with the challenges of transition. Because September is “Suicide Awareness Month”, this week is meant to specifically focus on veterans, and help them discover different ways to foster their mental health. Chicago Warrior Week will also educate civilians about what veterans face when they come home. The events, resources, and programming opportunities during this week are for veterans, but we invite all of Chicago to come to celebrate our Warriors.

About Chicago Warrior Week

Chicago Warrior Week is a week-long series of events that showcase the variety of programs that support veterans in a healthy transition to civilian life

Chicago Warrior Week will highlight organizations that provide veteran services and give civilians and veterans an opportunity to explore the many different ways veterans can find support in transitioning into civilian life.  September is Suicide Awareness Month.  Every day, we lose 20 veterans to suicide.  Chicago Warrior Week will explore the many different ways veterans can address their mental health.

Chicago Warrior Week will connect veterans to other veterans, organizations, and the community to help cope with the challenges of transition.  September is “Suicide Awareness Month,” so way to expose Veterans and help them find healthy ways to cope with their challenges in the transition.  During Warrior Week, they will be able to take part in social events, physical fitness events, mental health resources and programming, resource fairs, an art show, and endless camaraderie building opportunities. It is also a way to bring together and showcase the community and organizations making a difference in the lives of Veterans and their families in Chicago.
