Criticism of Trump is just another form of hate

Criticism of Trump is just another form of hate

President Donald Trump’s critics are so angry and emotional about him their criticism has deteriorated into pure hatred. Many on the Left admit it is hate, but won’t admit that their hatred is a symptom of their own hypocrisies. Donald Trump is the President of the United States and while I don’t agree with everything he does or say, he is “better” than the failed alternatives that were thrown at the country, politicians who use “happy talk” to disguise their hypocrisies and their lies, and a public that is willing to accept less when it comes from politicians they like

By Ray Hanania

Ray HananiaA recent poll by the Wall Street Journal and NBC showed that President Trump continues to lag behind other presidents when it comes to support from the general public, although he is doing as well or better when it comes to his political party.

President Trump’s approval rating is at 45 percent among Republicans, higher than any other past president except George W. Bush after Sept. 11, 2001, but is only 9 percent among Democrats, the lowest of any president.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand this. It’s all about hate, pure hate.

Democrats hate President Trump. Liberals hate President Trump. The majority of the news media hates President Trump. TV commentators and late-night talk show hosts hate President Trump. Some TV newscasters like Lawrence O’Donnell on the biased MSNBC Network actually lie and distort facts to make Trump look worse. CNN does it all the time and the Cuomo boys have set aside journalistic ethics to spew anti-Trump political campaign rhetoric.

But these haters don’t want you to believe it is hate. In fact, these same people who hate Trump are the loudest voices complaining about hate in our society. It is pure hypocrisy, of course.

I would argue that the hate from the left is so vicious it rivals hate against others like the hate against Blacks, the hate against Jews, the hate against Arabs and Muslims, and hate against Gays.

But the left doesn’t want you to describe their feelings towards Trump as hate. They want to have it both ways. They want to be allowed to hate on Trump while also hating on hate. And I think that makes them hypocrites.

I don’t like everything President Trump does, but I understand politics better than the average American.

I don’t agree with President Trump 100 percent, but in American politics, there is no such thing as 100 percent. Politics is based on several principles, like consensus or majority agreement, and on “relativity” – who are the choices you must choose from?

There is no politician who you will agree with on issues 100 percent of the time. But, there is a range of agreement, and in my case, that range is between 60 percent and 70 percent. If I agree with a politician 70 percent of the time, I consider that politician great. But, if I agree with a politician less than 60 percent of the time, not so great.

Now apply “relativity”. Politics comes down to a choice that is relative between two or even three candidates. They all could be terrible but you have to pick the one who is relatively ‘better.”

In American elections, the final choice always comes down to what the two largest or major political movements favor, usually Democrats and Republicans. You compare the two candidates together and sometimes even the candidate you agree with only 50 percent of the time is the “better” choice.

That’s kind of what happened with President Trump. I really disliked Hillary Clinton. I disliked President Obama, mainly because he promised so much and was such a great let-down. I disliked the phoniness that I saw in both of those politicians; behind the big smiles and the soothing but empty rhetoric was emptiness and often hypocrisy. They used “happy talk” to make us feel good and accept their compromises on principles that they exploited to elevate themselves in the publics mind.

Trump wasn’t the “best” candidate, but he was certainly “better.”

The hypocrisy of the Left wants you to ignore all of these factors. They want to drive Trump out of the Presidency on the basis of pure hatred. They lost the election in the system of voting, and now they want to “win” the election through bullying, biased media coverage, lies and exaggerations, and focusing on Trump’s failings while ignoring his successes.

They were so shocked and surprised that Trump beat Clinton that their egos can’t take it. It caused such an angry, ignorant deep-seated feeling of anguish that it fuels the hatred that they spew at Trump. People who have an elevated sense of entitlement react the worst when things don’t turn out the way they expect.

I recognize Trump isn’t a politician who plays by the typical political rules, but all that means is he doesn’t sugar-coat his views to make them more palatable to the public. He tells you what he thinks. Raw. Unpolished. Provocative. He’s not Politically Correct. And sometimes, he is not polite, either.

Is he worse that others? I don’t think so. He’s not like the phony Clinton or the weak Obama who both told us what we wanted to hear but did something else.

The fact that only 9 percent of Democrats approve of President Trump tells you that the only reason for that low level of support has to be hate.

Trump is the President of the United States. Isn’t it always the Left that lectures everyone else that it isn’t about who is the president but rather about “respecting the office of the president.”

If the Left wants to “blame” someone for Trump’s election, they should blame themselves. They should blame the biased mainstream American news media. They should blame Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Their hypocrisies lost the election and they need to get over it already!
