Brush fire in Orland Park extinguished
Orland Park, IL – The Orland Fire Protection District responded to a brush fire on Thursday, April 24, 2025 located near the 11900 block of Bates Court.
Orland Fire Chief Michael Schofield reported that the fire had burned for about two hours and damaged five acres before being brought under control.
The fire was reported at about 2:30 PM, Schofield said.
First arriving crews found a large field and wetland fire in the grassland area behind Bates Court, Schofield said.
The Fire Department response was upgraded to a “full still brush fire” and required 10 fire crews.
The OFPD received support from Homer Fire, Palos Fire, Lockport Fire, and Mokena Fire.
Schofield said it took about two hours to extinguish the fire..
He said the response was complicated by “difficult marshy conditions” and “limited access to the burn area.”
There were not injuries reported or damage to nearby homes, OFPD officials confirmed.
