Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker

Illinois has many better options than Pritzker’s choice to succeed Durbin

By Ray Hanania

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who believes he can buy any election, any time for any amount of money, wants to buy the seat of retiring U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.

Pritzker has pushed his Lieutenant Governor, Juliana Stratton, to run for the seat. Stratton is a nice person, but as the Lt. Gov., she hasn’t done much of any significance to benefit Illinois taxpayers.

The only reason Pritzker is backing her is the reason why he slated her to be his running mate, she attracts support from certain communities he has done very little to support over the years, women and Blacks.

Pritzker’s support of Stratton isn’t about Illinois or even Stratton. It is about himself. Pritzker has always been selfish, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, willing to spend whatever it takes to win offices.

When he ran for governor in the last two elections, Pritzker spent more than $323 million, an obnoxious amount of money and evidence that Illinois and many other states should limit the amount of money that politicians can spend in any election.

Excessive spending by some undermines our Democracy. Buying an election by inundating voters with lies and exaggerations, as Pritzker has done, does no service to the public.

Stratton is a weak candidate in a field that will include other candidates who have earned the public’s respect by fighting for what is right and overcoming the odds of political attack.

There are some candidates who are very qualified to be Senator and to hold public office. They include Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs. Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul. Congresswoman Robin Kelly. State Senator Michael Hastings. Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas. They all have strong records and commitments to the interests of the taxpayers.

But, for those who become paid subscribers, you will soon be getting a free copy of my upcoming book that details the eight years of suffering that residents of Orland Park experienced under the failed and petty leadership of Mayor Keith Pekau. An anomaly in Illinois politics, Pekau became one of the most vicious and worst mayors in Illinois history.
