Leving team gained court-ordered parenting time for dad who had none

By Laura Reichel

A dad and his girlfriend were together for many years, and had two children, a boy and a girl, who are now both adolescents. After the relationship between dad and the mother ended, the children stayed with their father.

Afterwards, the mother filed for custody of the children. The outcome for him was horrible. Dad not only lost custody of his children but he received no parenting time and was kicked to the curb. He felt terrible, horrible! This was destroying the relationship between dad and his kids – especially because the children were at an age when they needed their father in their lives. Dad fired his law firm and hired a new one to fight for him. He hired the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd.

Chicago matrimonial attorney Jeffery Leving, President of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. will talk about this important case on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CST Saturday, February 1st on Power 92.3 FM. This show segment will be available for download on the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour Spotify page on dadsrights.com

Dad feared that this separation from his children could also affect their mental health, especially at their age. When parents split up, their separation can often hit adolescents hard. They may feel stressed by the process, their grades may drop, and they may turn to drinking or drugs to relieve the stress they feel. Attorney Jeffery Leving discusses this on page 50 of his book, “How to be a Good Divorced Dad”.

Desperate to protect his children, their future, and his bonds with them, dad went back to court but with the Leving legal team on his side.

They went to court and fought for dad.  They won. The Leving legal team presented evidence demonstrating that dad has always been an involved and caring father to his children and that, at their current age, the time between a father and his children was crucial to the children’s mental health. The judge awarded dad parenting time, putting him back in his children’s lives.

This was an excellent court victory, modified for publication, that preserved the loving relationship between a father and his children while also protecting the children’s futures. Now, dad has even more time to spend with his children, without fear of being cut off or separated from them.

On another note, February 1st marks the start of Black History Month. Attorney Jeffery Leving will be highlighting many important and historical figures from Black History on his radio broadcast every Saturday of this month. This week, he’ll focus on the man who founded Black History, Carter G. Woodson, and his connection to Chicago. You can check out OurBlackHeritage.com, a website attorney Leving created that features historical photos, historical documents, and important articles about the importance of African American history.

Matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of the U.S. President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition, the Illinois House of Representatives has honored Leving “for his work in safeguarding the rights of fathers and protecting the welfare of children and families in this State,” and the Illinois Senate issued a proclamation recognizing his efforts on behalf of fathers.
