Blues In The Schools (BITS): BITS is an educational program designed to teach the history, culture, and music of the Blues. The program aims to introduce students, ages 5 to 14 years old, the rich legacy of Blues, its roots in American culture, and its impact on American music.
The program also covers the Blues broader historical and cultural significance. The program aims to inspire curiosity and creativity, it also fosters a lifelong appreciation for the Blues and its enduring legacy in American culture.
For decades Geneva Red & The Original Delta Fireballs have brought their traditional “Juke Joint” style music to all the corners of the country.
Jackie 5 & Dime plays his drums and guitar/banjo at the same time while Red is blowing the harmonica and singing some down-home blues.
They will present “The Muddy Mississippi” educational performance. It will stir the young audience’s imagination and motivate participation with hand clapping and dancing.
Their song repertoire takes the children on a musical journey that starts in Chicago and heads south along the Mississippi River, stopping in St. Louis, Memphis, the Juke Joints of the Mississippi Delta and Arkansas, all the way down to New Orleans and back again.
Red & Jackie always bring a little history and background about the songs they play to their presentation, and instill a sense of the importance of this great American Music tradition.
