Chicago and other cities should launch initiatives to help fathers

The Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. is calling on the City of Chicago and cities all over America to create programs that are similar to Milwaukee’s Fatherhood Initiative.

Attorney Jeffery Leving, founder and president of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd. in Chicago, will talk about the importance of cities creating programs to help fathers on his weekly radio show, the Dads’ Rights Legal Hour, 9-10 a.m. CDT Saturday, October 28, on Power 92.3 FM Radio in Chicago.

The Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative started back in 2005 and has impacted thousands of families since then and although its focus is on fathers, the group is dedicated to promoting the positive involvement of both parents in the lives of their children.

The goals of the group are to increase engagement between fathers and their children and families, increase access to employment opportunities and quality of life services, and enhance skills in problem solving and emotional well-being, all worthy  goals.

The group states on its website that it has helped more than 12,000 men  from Milwaukee and says that more than 95% are African American or other males of color.

This is much needed, not just in Milwaukee, but in cities throughout the country.

Leving is urging the City of Chicago to create a group with similar goals to  the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative, as Chicago is the city that needs it the most here in Illinois.

However, it is not just Chicago that needs help with the issues of   fatherhood. Leving is calling on every city in America to start similar groups and initiatives to help fathers and focus on the importance of having fathers contributing and being part of their children’s  lives.

While this sort of thing will take political will and taxpayer money, the cost of doing nothing will be much higher. Jeffery Leving believes it would be wiser  to pay to help people rather than paying to incarcerate those who get no   help and end up making bad decisions and ending up in   prison.

Leving believes it is an easy choice, especially considering how   many fathers and children can benefit and have better lives because of   it.

Leving, who has dedicated his career to safeguarding children and reuniting them with their fathers, has written three acclaimed books: “Fathers’ Rights,” “Divorce Wars” and “How to be a Good Divorced Dad,” the latter of which   was praised by President Obama and by Cardinal Francis E. George, then  the Archbishop of Chicago. Attorney Jeffery M. Leving is the recipient of President Biden’s 2023 Presidential  Lifetime  Achievement Award. Follow Jeffery M.
