Disaster Recovery Center  opened in Cicero to help  Cicero Residents Impacted by Summer Flooding

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Town of Cicero announced the opening Tuesday (August 29) of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located at Morton College.

The Disaster Recovery Center, run by FEMA, is a location where residents who suffered Flood Damage can apply in person for Individual Assistance and Small Business Administration assistance, if they have not already applied online.

“The Town of Cicero is coordinating daily with local, state, and federal agencies to make sure our residents receive every possible resource in recovering from this summer’s devastating flooding,” said Town of Cicero President Larry Dominick who initiated the post-flood response that secured FEMA Disaster Relief approval.

“This Disaster Recovery Center is an important asset where residents can connect in-person with FEMA officials to get help to apply for Federal Flood assistance and to get answers to many questions theory may have regarding insurance claims and multi-family living situations.”

Dominick, who brought together local, regional and state officials immediately after the flooding to petition President Biden to approve disaster funding for Cicero homeowners, said the work will not end until Cicero residents get the Federal Funding relief they deserve.

“We are working day and night to help the residents of Cicero recover from this disaster while at the same time engaging our regional partners to implement a long-term solution to make sure this never happens again,” said Dominick.

“Cicero’s residents are grateful to FEMA, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, and the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security for all their help in securing this and other resources.”

Bilingual language assistance is available at the DRCs.

A Disaster Recovery Center may be able to help residents:

  • Apply for FEMA assistance.
  • Learn the status of your FEMA application.
  • Understand any letters or contacts you get from FEMA.
  • Learn more about additional disaster assistance programs.
  • Find housing and rental assistance information.
  • Get answers to questions or resolve problems
  • Get referrals to agencies that may offer other assistance.
  • Learn about Small Business Administration programs.

The Cicero Disaster Recovery Center is located within Morton College at 3801 S Central Ave, Cicero, IL 60804. It is open from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday. Closed on Sunday.

  • Obtener respuestas a preguntas o resolver problemas.
