Orland Fire District hosts monthly barbecues for the public June 7

The Orland Fire Protection District and its firefighters are hosting monthly barbecues that are open to the public to express their gratitude to the public for their continued support.

Attending the Barbecues include the Fire District leadership, battalion chiefs, local firefighters, cadets and members of the Senior Advisory Council.

“These monthly BBQ’s are our way of saying thank you for your continued support,” said Betsy Dine, Fire & Life Safety Education Coordinator for the Orland Fire Protection District

“We also want to take this opportunity to meet and get to know our neighbors better. This is a great opportunity for us to strengthen our relationship and for everyone to learn more about what we do! We welcome you to come and connect with our brave and hardworking crew who work tirelessly to keep our community members and neighbors safe. Bring your family and friends!”

The next BBQ is set for Wednesday, June 7 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Fire Station 2 located at 15100 S. 80th Avenue, Orland Park, IL 60467. 

 

“We will be serving an assortment of popular barbecue foods including hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and drinks for everyone to enjoy,” Dine said.

“We encourage you to bring your questions and sit with our Chiefs, Firefighters, SAC, and Crew members to learn more about our department and what the Orland Fire Protection District does for its community! This will be a fun and relaxing setting and we hope that you can join us.  We look forward to seeing you at our Fire Station 2 BBQ!”

The Orland Fire Protection District is one of the best in the region.

The Fire District holds an Insurance Service Office (ISO) Class-One rating for fire protection, the highest possible ISO Rating, which places Orland among the top 3 percent of the nation’s best fire departments. Insurance companies base their premium costs on this rating. The higher the ISO rating, the lower the costs to property owners.

The Orland Fire Protection District also has one of the highest Cardiac Arrest “Save Rates,” which is 71 percent, compared to the national and regional average of 10 to 15 percent. This achievement is a reflection of the highest level of training that firefighter/paramedics receive.

The Fire District has been awarded the Government Finance Officer Association award for excellence in financial reporting. Based on a survey of patients transported by the Fire District’s ambulance, 95% of those who responded rated the responding paramedics as excellent.

There are over 163 employees at the Orland Fire Protection District serving the community in a variety of positions including more than 114 career firefighters who are crossed trained as paramedics.

The Fire District also has its own dispatching center and maintenance facility and operates out of six fire stations distributed throughout the area.
