Orland Township Receives 2021 Top Hat Award

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago presented the award on Sunday, Nov. 21.

On Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago awarded Orland Township with their Top Hat Award during the Annual Memorial and Awards Mass held at St. Mary Magdalene, 2339 York Street in Blue Island, IL.

Robin Kassis, Orland Township Food Pantry Coordinator, attended the Hybrid Mass to accept the award.

“We’re truly honored to receive such a meaningful award from The Society of St. Vincent de Paul,” said Supervisor Paul O’Grady.

“We could not accomplish everything the Orland Township Food Pantry does without our Township personnel and volunteers. We’re continuously grateful for their hard work, along with the generous donations of residents and local organizations and businesses.”

The Top Hat Awards are given to persons or organizations, who assist The Society of St. Vincent de Paul and other closely related community operations.

The award was presented to us in recognition of the Township’s resource assistance and food distributions.

“The Orland Township food pantry has been most generous in contacting conferences and food pantries in our district when they have an overabundance of food that they share with their own clients.  This has enabled us to provide much more to our Friends than we may have to offer.  Some of the abundance has also been directed to the St. Gall SVDP Food Pantry which has helped to serve so many people there. Thank you for all you do on behalf of those who call on us. Thank you for your fellowship with each other.” said Tom Moritz, District X President.
