Chicago House Soccer Match Preview: November 13, 2021, vs. Stumptown AC

The House Looks To Continue To Climb The Table And Extend Their Win Streak At Home

Chicago House AC is back at SeatGeek Stadium for another Saturday home match. Their opponent this weekend will be Stumptown AC which the House defeated back on August 14th, 1-0, to get their first win in club “Housestory.”

The kickoff is scheduled for Saturday November 13, 20210 at 7:30 pm. The House come into this match after completing the comeback to beat the LA Force 2-1, while Stumptown AC managed to hang on for a 1-1 draw at home against San Diego 1904 FC this past Saturday.

The House sits in 6th place in the 2021 NISA fall table with 20 points, while Stumptown AC is ahead on goal differential in 5th place with 20 points.

The players and coaches feel confident that they can carry that winning momentum into their match this weekend as they look to finish the fall season strong.

Chicago House AC forward Wojciech Wojcik shared how the team’s offense has improved throughout the season.

“It took a little bit of time for us to figure each other out,” said Wojcik.

“We’re starting to get that, and our chemistry is building game by game. Also, the direction and leadership of CJ and the coaching staff and we believe in the work they’ve put in and the direction they are taking us. That shows on the field, and nobody can do it alone, and we’ve come together these last couple of weeks to be able to put together good performances, string good results, and pick up points on the road and at home.”

Wojcik also acknowledges how he’s honored to be in contention in the NISA Golden Boot race.

“It starts from the training ground and having that mentality, culture, and consistency of going out to win games, scoring goals, and defending a lead,” said Wojcik.

“We’ve been able to do that these last couple of games, and we’ve been consistent the way we build ourselves up to get that opportunity to perform. It’s a great honor to be considered and keep fighting for the golden boot. It might be a little bit more difficult since Omar Nuno has 11 goals, but with two games left, anything is possible, if you believe. I believe in myself, my teammates, I believe in the club, and we still have a lot to prove in these last couple of games.”

Head Coach and Technical Director, C.J. Brown discussed his team’s mindset for this weekend’s match.

“The mindset is about forming some consistency,” said Coach Brown.

“If you look at our standings, there isn’t a lot of consistency. We have some excellent games, and then we have some bad games. We move up in the rankings, and then we drop ourselves back down. For me, the thought process is how to form consistency in our group and how to play back to back at a high quality. This weekend and the following weekend will prove if we can or cannot do it right now. This weekend will be a test. We played Stumptown AC at their place and squeaked out a win. We had a great defense and a great attitude to fight and win in 90 plus minutes to get the win. Hopefully, in this game, we can have that same defensive mentality but maybe put some more soccer together to compete with Stumptown AC in the midfield.”

Coach Brown also shared what has made Stumptown AC challenging to break down compared to other NISA teams the House has faced.

“Stumptown AC keeps the ball most of the time, so if you have the ball, it’s hard for the other team to score,” said Coach Brown.

“They’re structured really well as a group, and I think their backline and the midfield are pretty solid. They like to attack a lot with the left outside back, but overall they have a good structure. What Coach Rod Underwood has done with that group has been excellent, and they are a very dangerous team at any point during the game. As soon as you take your eye off them or think you’ve won it, they can do damage to you. We have to stay focused and finish out the game against them.”
