J. Sterling Morton District 201 Serves Over 50,000 Meals Since Shutdown
In an effort to keep children safe from the coronavirus pandemic, Governor Pritzker ordered schools to shut down in-person classes last month.
Thankfully, our students have the tools for remote learning already in place as we are a 1:1 district (1:1 refers to one computer for every student).
In addition to their academic needs, many of our students rely on us to provide breakfast and lunch as apart of their normal daily routine.
With the shutdown of physical schools, District 201 School Board and Administrators implemented a school “Grab and Go” breakfast and lunch pick-up program.
Today, we are proud to announce that we have now served over 50,000 breakfast and lunch meals to kids in their district. It should be noted that the “Grab and Go” program continued this week even though the district was scheduled to be out for spring break.
