Dryer fire in Orland Park home at 144th Block of Mason Lane
The Orland Fire Protection District (OFPD) responded to a house fire located in the 14400 block of Mason Lane at approximately 11:56 PM on Friday night.
OFPD Fire companies arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke coming from the sub-basement of the one and one half story frame home.
OFPD firefighters arrived on the scene and found three residents still in the lower level of the home, including two elderly residents who are physically disabled and were unable to leave the property on their own. OFPD firefighters and Orland Park Police officers escorted all of the residents as well as two family dogs from the premises.
The residents were evaluated by fire department ambulances at the scene, and uninjured.
The fire was contained to the sub-basement and did not spread to the rest of the home, although there was smoke damage throughout the residence.
OFPD officials said the fire originated in the family’s dryer but the fire remains under investigation.
The two elderly residents were re-located by OFPD ambulance to a son’s home in Palos. Fire departments from Palos, Crestwood, Tinley, Mokena, Lemont and Frankfort assisted at the fire and filling fire stations.
